Lineup vs City of Angels

The PROS returned to Mission Bay Stadium in victorious fashion as they topped City of Angels FC 7-3 on Saturday, May 6.

“The guys came out firing. I thought the first half was tremendous, very electric in front of goal,” said Head Coach Ziggy Korytoski.

Ten minutes into the match, David Luquen scored off an unassisted breakaway, running the entire length of the PROS sideline before capitalizing off his steal. PROS took an early 1-0 lead.

Shortly after Luquen’s goal, Luan Oliveira scored another unassisted goal in minute 19. Then in minute 25 Luquen scored again, increasing the lead to 3-0 and marking the third unassisted goal of the night.

After Luquen’s goal, the PROS continued to be aggressive and City of Angels FC could not slow down their offensive attack.

Amani Walker and Tre Hayes stepped up in scoring position as they combined for three goals in a 12-minute stretch before halftime.

In the 30th minute, Hayes scored another unassisted goal. Hayes then had two assists as he directed the ball to Walker for a goal in minute 35 and 42.

The PROS led City of Angels 6-0 at the start of the second half. PROS substitutions made by Korytoski included keeper Kyle Jackson in for Jean Antoine, as well as Luis Cardona and Sean Callahan in for midfielders Felipe Liborio and Luan Oliveira.

City of Angels scored their first goal of the night in the 53rd minute of the game as Byron Rivera made a move on goal.

The PROS quickly responded in minute 57 as Walker completed his hat trick off an assist from Callahan, making him the undisputed Man of the Match.

In minute 65, Rivera scored for City of Angels and in minute 79 he added another goal off a bicycle kick, bringing the score to 7-3.

Neither team added any more points to the score and the PROS walked away with a second straight victory.

The PROS now turn their attention to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. They make their debut in the Open Division at 7 p.m. on May 10 at Mission Bay Stadium to host Chula Vista FC.

“We’re excited. We know it’s a big moment for the club and for the city of San Diego,” said Korytoski.
